L'Aquila is dressed in Stars – International Dance Gala

Sold out auditorium and cheering audience greeted the third edition of the L'Aquila International Dance Gala yesterday 24.8.2023, the performance included artistic program of the 729th edition of the Perdonanza Celestiniana.

(Ornella Cerroni, Martin Nudo, Elvis Nudo, Elisabetta Formento, Yanier Gómez Noda, Tatiana Melnik, Alessio Rezza, Eleonora Abbagnato, Michal Krcmar, Michele Satriano, Alessandra Tognoloni, Francesco Mariottini, Valentino Zucchetti, Kristian Cellini, Alessandra Casale)

The stage was set up at the San Berardino stairway, Eleonora Abbagnato, godmother of the event, the first Italian ballerina named étoile of the Opéra national de Paris, since 2015 artistic director of the Ballet of the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome and for a year also director of the dance school of the capitoline foundation, she received real ovations in the two numbers she gave to the public and which she opened and closed the evening. She was poignant and passionate in the pas de deux Il Rosso e il nero by Uwe Scholz performed in tandem with Michele Satriano, principal dancer of the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome. She was alluring, mischievous, witty, in the amusing Cheek to Cheek, famous duo with a Hollywood flavor created by Roland Petit, performed with Alessio Rezza, étoile of the Rome Opera House.
The 1,500 people seated in the audience applauded and repeatedly called the other étoiles who performed on this magical evening into the limelight, whose common thread was human feelings and the various faces of love.

Mayara Magri and Matthew Ball, both étoiles of the Royal Ballet of London. Audience greatly applauded for both pieces in the virtuosic Diana and Atteone and in the magical Where you are, I feel by the Italian choreographer Valentino Zucchetti present at the evening.

Tatyjana Melnyik, étoile of the Hungarian National Ballet of Budapest, with Michal Krcmar, absolute étoile of the Finnish National Ballet of Helsinki, were amazing in the famous pas de deux from Don Quixote.

The Italians Alessandra Tognoloni and Francesco Mariottini, both étoiles of La Compagnie des Ballets de Monte-Carlo of the Principality of Monaco, fascinated the audience with the amusing pas de deux from La Bisbetica Domata by Jean-Christophe Maillot and with Bluebeard by Fabrizio Monteverde.

Ovations also for the Italian Elisabetta Formento and Cuban Yanier Gómez Noda, stars of the Compañía Nacional de Danza de España in Madrid, both in the virtuosic pas de deux Spring Waters by Asaf Messerer and in the elegant and famous Tschaikovsky Pas de deux by Geoge Balanchine arrived on stage in L'Aquila thanks to the permission of the George BalanchineTrust of New York.

Applause also for the brothers Elvis and Martin Nudo, Italian dancers in the Finnish National Ballet who interpreted the lyrical duet Empatia created for them by the choreographer Kristian Cellini.

The Gala, with the artistic director Ornella Cerroni of the Art Nouveau Dance Center of L'Aquila and the consultancy of the journalist and dance critic Francesca Bernabini, is presented by Alessandra Casale.

The lights created by the well-known lighting designer Carlo Cerri were beautiful, capable of creating wonderful light scenes.
